My love of cooking began as a child. I started baking at an early age and as a teen would prepare dinner for my family several times a week. I was lucky to have a mom that allowed me to experiment in the kitchen—and was willing to clean up after me! In 1980 I talked myself into my first restaurant job at a great little cafe where I loved to eat, and I haven't looked back since!
I began working as a personal chef in 1984 when a regular restaurant customer was looking for someone to help him transition to a healthier diet. From this first client I developed a thriving business in the suburban Detroit area. When my husband and I relocated to Leelanau Country in 1989 I brought the concept with me and continue to provide Personal Chef Services in the Traverse City area.
I love Leelanau County, a region with so many people committed to providing us with an abundance and variety of wonderful healthy food. Shopping at the Sara Hardy farmer’s market in Traverse City or stopping at a road side stand for fresh produce or eggs on my way to cook in Elk Rapids—these are daily reminders of our connection to this beautiful landscape. How lucky we are.
